Who Is Asian American?

The term "Asian American" refers to persons, living in the United States of America, whose familial roots originate from many countries, ethnic groups, and cultures of the Asian continent including, but not limited to:

Asian Indian Chinese Korean Pakistani
Bangladeshi Filipino Laotian Sikh
Bhutanese Hmong Malaysian Sri Lankan
Burmese Indonesian Mien Thai
Cambodian Japanese Nepalese Vietnamese

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Data, the Asian American population consists of the following percentages of ethnicities:

bullet 23.7% Chinese
bullet 18.1% Filipino
bullet 16.4% Asian Indian
bullet 11.0% Vietnamese
bullet 10.5% Korean
bullet 7.8%   Japanese
bullet 12.5% Other Asian
