Job Opportunity: Program Manager, Chronic Diseases
The Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum is seeking a Chronic Diseases Program Manager.
Title: Program Manager, Chronic Diseases (CD)
Reports to: Network Development Director
Supervises: Co-supervises the Community Engagement Assistant
Classification: 11
Position Summary: Bring local partners into our national network, allowing the partners access to the range of services and resources we have to offer, including but not limited to Policy Analysis, Communications and Research, Evaluation and Data capabilities and delivering value capabilities (organizational development, management support and selected service intervention, technical assistance) with a focus on our Cancer Survivorship grant. Manage the APINCSN grants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for Chronic Diseases budget and coordinate with Directors and VPs
· Develop and maintain strategic relationships and collaborations among constituents, community based organizations, advocacy organizations, funding agencies and policy makers
· Identify learning opportunities, develop, and implement community organizing capacity building strategies
· Work closely with the Asian & Pacific Islander National Cancer Survivors Network (APINCSN) National Advisory Committee and Workgroup members
· Coordination and implementation of Chronic Diseases Program (APINCSN) activities
· Develop documentation related to community engagement strategies
· Assist and develop additional documentation (e.g. proposal and report writing, scientific/policy articles, fact sheets, press releases, etc.)
· Collect, analyze, and synthesize relevant literature
· Participate in and/or lead advocacy activities/strategies
· Manage grants associated with APINCSN and local partners and monitor compliance with grant and program requirements
· Actively engage in grant proposal writing
· Monitor grantee progress, review and evaluate program reports, collect and analyze information
· Write annual and final grant reports for APIAHF funding sources
· Contribute to and implement the APIAHF 50K by 2020 network build-out through work at local and regional level
· Convene meetings, conferences, and teleconferences among constituents, advisory committees, and government agencies in accordance to work plans
· Represent the program and agency at national, state, and local forums, conferences and meetings as an APIAHF spokesperson
· Other duties as assigned
Grassroots engagement:
· Develop and lead grassroots engagement initiatives
· Develop strategic plan for grassroots engagement campaigns, including developing training and technical assistance curriculum for community-based organizations
· Engage a diverse range of stakeholders and organizations in campaign work
· Ability to be strategic, understand, and be able to navigate complex community relationships
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree or 6 years work related experience in a health-related field.
· At least two years of experience in program and budget management with increasing authority.
· Demonstrated experience in capacity and ! network building, policy and media advocacy.
· Demonstrated experience in facilitating meetings, conference planning, developing and conducting capacity building trainings, and public speaking.
· Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing programs.
· Demonstra! ted experience with electronic communications, including internet applications.
Skills, knowledge and abilities:
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
· Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
· Demonstra! ted strong and effective writing and analytical skills.
· Strong initiative, creativity and motivation, including ability to work under pressure and with deadlines.
· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and internet applications in a Windows environment.
· Ability to travel as part of work responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in health related field or nine years of equivalent work related experience.
· Experience or interest in working with the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.
· Experience or interest in working with chronic diseases.
· Experience with supervision and budgeting.
· Bilingual and/or biliterate in an Asian or Pacific Islander language.
