American Cancer Society Seeking Volunteers for Cancer Prevention Study-3

The American Cancer Society is recruiting Sacramento residents ages 30 to 65 who have no personal history of cancer to participate in their long-term study called the Cancer Prevention Study-3 or CPS-3. This study is about lifestyles of various racial/ethnic populations. By joining CPS-3, participants can help researchers understand how to prevent cancer. The goal is to enroll at least 300,000 adults from across the U.S.

To be eligible, you should:

  • be between 30 and 65 years old
  • have no personal history of cancer (this does not include basal or squamous cell skin cancer)
  • be willing to make a long-term commitment to the study which simply involves completing periodic follow-up questionnaires.

 

Study participation typically involves:

  • reading and signing an informed consent form
  • completing a survey
  • providing a waist circumference measurement
  • providing a small blood sample (similar to a doctor’s visit)
